Features
• LED beam automatically adjusts its intensity to detect settled sludge blanket and supernatant interface levels in thick or thin sludges, or in light flocs
• Sludge level interface detection is not distorted by the inclined plates of lamella separators
• Advanced self-diagnostics
• High intensity infrared beams
• Automatic beam intensity control
• 4 – 20 ma output linear with sludge interface level depth
• High & low sludge blanket depth set-point relays
Applications
• Clarifiers and thickeners.
• Gravity settlers and decanting tanks.
• Dissolved Air Flotation (DAF) units.
• Sequential Batch Reactors (SBRs).
• Sumps, pits, and inclined plate clarifiers.
• Municipal water and wastewater treatment.
• Industrial process plants (food, pulp & paper, chemical, and power generation).
How It Works
The Model 602 uses an optical probe to detect light reflected from suspended solids in the liquid.
When the sensor reaches the sludge blanket, the reflected light intensity changes. The system interprets this variation to determine the sludge level and automatically triggers outputs for control or alarm functions.
The controller continuously compensates for variations in solids concentration, maintaining accuracy in real-world operating conditions.
| Part Number | Model | Description |
| MSE-602 | 602 | Reads sludge depth UP from tank bottom |
| MSE-602-UD | 602 UD | Reads sludge blanket location DOWN from liquid surface |
| MSE-602-DAF | 602 DAF | Reads sludge/liquid interface in Dissolved Air Flotation thickeners |
| MSE-602-LP | 602 LP | Special model for Drinking Water Plant upflow clarifiers where overlying water is very clear & sludge is thin (consult factory for further details) |
| MSE-602-DUAL | 602 DUAL | Uses 2 probes, one mounted 48 in. (122 cm) above the other to give 96 in. (244 cm) continous span |
| MSE-602-DUAL-UD | 602 DUAL UD | Uses 2 probes, one mounted 48 in. (122 cm) above the other to give 96 in. (244 cm) continous span |
