A powder funnel has a wide outlet to help prevent blockages as powder moves into a container. The 316L Stainless Steel Powder Funnel is fully welded and bright polished (better than 0.5 µm Ra), and its outlet ends in a tri-ferrule fitting so it clamps onto other equipment; it also handles creams and pastes. The heavy-gauge Powder Funnel in PP or HDPE runs from 100 to 350 mm across. PTFE funnels (30 to 150 mm), in virgin PTFE that conforms to FDA and USP Class VI, are designed for liquids. Single-use SteriWare funnels are moulded in a cleanroom and individually bagged: natural HDPE (50 to 200 mm, sterile or not), the sterile double-bagged USP Class VI funnel and a blue metal-detectable PP funnel.
316L stainless steel is widely used in the pharmaceutical and food industries and clamps onto equipment through its tri-ferrule outlet. PTFE funnels are designed for liquids. PP and HDPE funnels are heavy gauge with excellent corrosion resistance, and single-use funnels remove cleaning altogether.
The outer bag comes off as the funnel enters the cleanroom, so the inner bag keeps it clean inside the clean area. The double-bagged funnel is HDPE meeting USP Class VI, sterile, 200 mm across with a 40 mm spout, 10 to a box.
The blue PP funnel can be picked up by a metal detector, so a fragment that breaks off can be found in product, and the blue colour stands out against most powders. It is non-sterile, 200 mm across with a 43 mm spout, 4 to a box.
