Reverse Osmosis

Reverse osmosis pushes water through a semi-permeable membrane to remove dissolved salts, heavy metals and most organic molecules that bag and cartridge filters cannot catch. ERE supplies Watts commercial and industrial RO systems. The PUR-O series, from the PUR-O-01 to the PUR-O-05, ship with pre-treatment: a sediment cartridge and an activated carbon cartridge in wall-mounted vessels. The R-series includes systems such as the R14, R44 and R48, with FRP pressure vessels and vertical multi-stage pumps on powder-coated steel frames; the R48-24 adds an Allen-Bradley Micro 850 PLC.

When do I need reverse osmosis?

When the problem is dissolved: salts, heavy metals, nitrates or PFAS that bag and cartridge filters cannot capture. A membrane typically rejects 95 to 99% of dissolved solids; 75 to 95% of the feed comes out as purified permeate and the rest leaves as concentrate. What pre-treatment does an RO system need?

Membranes foul quickly without it. Sediment filtration, carbon filtration and an antiscalant are the usual steps, depending on the feed water; PUR-O systems include a sediment and a carbon cartridge. ERE also supplies the cartridges and filtration media for the pre-treatment train.

How do I size a system?

From three things: the feed water analysis (dissolved solids, hardness, iron and temperature), the volume of treated water you need per day, and the quality target. Send them to us and we will match a PUR-O or R-series system and its pre-treatment.
