Two jobs: recover free product from wells, and keep hydrocarbons from leaving containment. In wells, the Geotech PRC passive skimmer recovers floating product (LNAPL) down to a sheen; its oleophilic intake floats and follows the water level, with 60 mesh for more viscous products and 100 mesh for gasoline and diesel. At containment drains and outfalls, Basic Concepts products use oil-solidifying polymers that let rainwater pass and capture sheen and oil: the HFF Oil Stop Valve shuts the flow off when a spill arrives, the HFF Berm Drain Kit drains containment berms at over 100 GPM and filters hydrocarbons below 5 ppm, and the Hydro Sheen Filter uses Agent-Q fabric for portable secondary containment. All are quoted.
With no power, controls or moving parts. Water passes through polymer-filled casing; drips and sheen are captured slowly and reduce the flow over time, and a real spill makes the unit shut off and back the water up into containment. A reusable pre-filter is required, and a unit that has solidified oil is replaced, not cleaned. See our oil stop valve guide.
