REOTEMP Type A dial thermometers read the temperature deep inside a compost pile, a windrow or soil. The Heavy Duty Thermometer, in °C or °F, has a 5/16 in. stainless steel stem with a bimetal helix at the bottom that drives the pointer of a 3 in. hermetically sealed dial, accurate to ±1% of scale. The Fast Response Thermometer, in °C or °F, adds a reinforced 3/8 in. stem and a 1/4 in. tip that reads about twice as fast. Stems run from 24 to 72 in.; scales are 0 to 100 °C or 0 to 200 °F. The Probe Guard and Probe Handle add a thick-walled stainless sheath and a handle.
Both are all stainless with a hermetically sealed dial. The Fast Response model has a stronger 3/8 in. stem and a more sensitive tip that reads about twice as fast, so it suits frequent readings; the Heavy Duty model is the standard compost thermometer.
Long enough to reach the core of the pile or the depth you need: stems come from 24 to 72 in. (2 to 6 ft), and the probe guards come in the same 2 to 6 ft lengths.
±1% of scale, read on a 3 in. dial whose pointer is driven directly by the bimetal helix in the stem.
