Stainless spoons are crevice free and reusable: the Laboratory Spoon (2 to 12 ml), Chemical Spoon (5 to 35 ml), Open Spoon with a pouring lip, Micro Spoon, double-ended spoons with a different volume at each end, the Volumetric Spoon Set (1.25, 5, 15 and 100 ml, engraved), and long-handled sampling spoons in 304 or 316L up to 1,000 mm. Single-use SteriWare spoons are moulded and packed in a cleanroom and individually bagged: sample spoons (10 ml), long-handled straight and angled spoons, mini spoons, volumetric spoons and the sterile, double-bagged ULTRA spoon, with blue metal-detectable versions. Nasco Sterilized Spoons pair with Whirl-Pak bags.
Stainless spoons are reusable and are cleaned between samples. SteriWare spoons come straight from the bag and are thrown away after use, so there is no cleaning, no cleaning validation and no carry-over between batches; many come sterile (SAL 10⁻⁶).
No. Volumetric spoons are not certified measuring devices, and the user must validate them. The stainless Volumetric Spoon Set has the volume engraved on each spoon.
