Samplers for liquids in tanks, drums, rivers and process lines, grouped by where the sample comes from. At the surface: dippers in 316L stainless, PTFE or PP (Stainless Dipper, PTFE Dipper, Chemical Dipper), long-handled HDPE dippers to 12 ft, and the TeleScoop on poles up to 6 m. From a set depth: the weighted Sub Sampler, the Sub Sampler Pro, the Bacon Bomb, the Deep Water Sampler and the Bottle Sampler. Through the depth of a drum: coliwasas, drum thieves and the three-level Multi Dipper 2. From streams and outfalls: the Grab Sample Kit, Swing Sampler and In Stream Grab Sampler. A coliwasa. Lowered open, it fills at the same level as the liquid around it; closing its valve then holds a full vertical column with every layer in proportion. See our coliwasa guide.
Use a sampler that opens only where you want it. The Sub Sampler Pro and the Bacon Bomb open when they touch bottom, or at mid-height with a control line or pull cord, and close as they are lifted. For hazardous liquids in categories IIA and IIB, the spark-suppressant brass and glass Sub Sampler is used with conductive hand reels and lines.
Glass and PTFE resist aggressive solvents and acids; HDPE and polypropylene suit aqueous and mild liquids; 316L stainless is robust and reusable. Compatibility is a safety decision, because the wrong material can fail mid-sample. Our drum and tank sampling guide matches samplers to liquids.
With a bottle holder on a pole, so you are not leaning over the water. The Grab Sample Kit has a telescopic pole (6 to 12 ft or 8 to 16 ft), a Purcy clamp, eight 1 L Nalgene bottles and a carrying case; the Swing Sampler's head swings to take samples at angles up to 90°.
