These are sampling filters, not treatment systems. A disposable 0.45 µm filter goes in line on the sample tubing to remove suspended particulates before a sample for dissolved metals is bottled. ERE carries the Waterra FHT-45 (600 cm², for high turbidity) and FMT-45 (300 cm², for medium turbidity), both with polyethersulfone media, a compound inlet that fits standard groundwater sampling pumps and tubing (3/8 in. thread and 1/2 in. hose barb), and PFAS-, PFOS- and PFOA-free construction; and the Sampson Filter 45, a 600 cm² high-turbidity 0.45 micron filter.

When the lab will analyze dissolved metals: filtering in the field through 0.45 µm keeps particles in the sample from adding to the result. Samples for total metals are usually left unfiltered. Follow your laboratory's method and the provincial sampling protocol.
Choose by turbidity. The FHT-45 has twice the filter area (600 cm²) for turbid water; the FMT-45 (300 cm²) suits medium turbidity. Low-flow purging gives a lower-turbidity sample to begin with, which also spares the filter; see our low-flow sampling guide.
The Waterra filters have a compound inlet that fits standard groundwater sampling pumps and tubing, with a 3/8 in. thread and a 1/2 in. hose barb. Sampling pumps are under Pumps.
The Waterra filters are listed PFAS-, PFOS- and PFOA-free. For the Sampson Filter 45, ask us before a PFAS sampling event.
