Shovels for collecting samples and digging test holes. Sampling Systems makes two hygienic shovels: a 316L stainless steel shovel, crevice free and polished, 1,155 mm long with a 235 mm blade, and a one-piece food-grade polypropylene shovel in two blade sizes and in red, white or blue for HACCP colour coding. AMS adds the Stainless Steel Spade Shovel, 54 in. long, whose fine cutting edge digs compacted material and which is easily decontaminated, and the Montana Sharp Shooter, which opens a deep, narrow hole even in hard, rocky soil, with an optional rubber-coated handle that reduces recoil.

Shovel FAQ

Stainless steel or plastic?

Stainless steel withstands caustic and corrosive materials and is easily decontaminated between samples. The polypropylene shovel is food grade and made in one piece, for hygienic areas.

Which shovel for hard ground?

The Montana Sharp Shooter opens a deep, narrow hole in hard, rocky soil, and the AMS spade's fine cutting edge digs compacted material. For samples from depth, use an auger.

Why colour-coded shovels?

Red, white and blue shovels let a plant keep each tool to one area or product, in line with HACCP guidelines.
